Alaska -- Day 24

Today it rained and rained and rained. It started before 9 last night and continued till about 6:30 this evening. We had planned to drive on to Prince George today, but decided not to travel in the rain since we didn’t need to. So it was a very relaxing day.

This part of Canada had record snows last winter. And now we have experienced three days of rain since we got to the Canadian Rockies. The rivers are bank full and in places flooding. The campground at Lake Louise was evacuated because the Bow River was so high. We have seen mud slides on the road and we understand some secondary roads have been closed. The southwestern US is in a drought. It is a shame Canada can’t share some of this moisture.

So, how did we fill our day? We did our weight training exercises. I baked bread—something I haven’t done for ages. John worked on genealogy and I did some beading. John celebrated home communion this afternoon so we can travel tomorrow. It was a good day.
