Alaska -- Day 21

Wednesday we travelled from Banff to Jasper along the Icefields Parkway.

Monday we drove most of the same route, but without the 5th wheel.  Are we ever glad we did that then.  Today dawned cloudy and foggy.  We had thunder and lightning and a hard rain overnight.  Today we didn't have nearly as many great views.  Often we could hardly see the mountains.

Because of the rain, the rivers were muddy and running really high.

At times we saw areas flooded.

Water was rushing down the hillsides.

At times that means landslides across the highway.

Often there were pretty waterfalls.

Still, we saw about a half dozen bicyclists on the road.  No way would I want to bike these hills, and especially not in this weather.

We spotted another bear.

And we have a great view out our window this evening at the Whistlers Campground in Jasper National Park.

  1. I am glad you are exploring part of Canada. Years go I took my son to British Columbia and we drove around including the Jasper to Bamff highway.
