Picking Fruit

Each time we drove to our campground in Bayfield, we passed this sign.

So, we decided to go pick raspberries. We drove to Blue Vista Farm. The office area and flower gardens are beautiful.

Despite the threatening skies, people were in the fields, picking both raspberries and blueberries.

These blueberries weren't ready to pick yet. Obviously, the blue fruit we saw on a recent hike were not blueberries.

They gave us an empty box and told us where the vines were that we could harvest. This is what we picked. It isn't really a lot, but all I felt we could use.

The box was weighed and we paid by the pound. When we brought the fruit home, I found I had a little over 8 cups of fruit. We are eating it with our cereal. I made one cobbler and froze some to make another one.

One family was resting in the garden after picking all these blueberries. I hope they plan to make blueberry jam or make and sell blueberry pies. That is a lot of blueberries!

We loved picking raspberries and blueberries at Blue Vista Farm! We froze over 4 gallons of blueberries and have been enjoying them in our smoothies and oatmeal, as well as the raspberries we picked. Glad you got to visit this place--the couple that own it are really nice.
