Hiking the Bluffs

Last Saturday we drove to The Bluffs Regional Park, not far from our apartment.  We had a good hike/walk on the trails in the park.  The parking lot was packed when we arrived.  We quickly decided we should either arrive really early if we wanted to walk on a weekend or choose to go on a weekday.  We are in an area full of apartment houses for younger (than us) people who probably work Monday through Friday.

We had open views of the grasslands in Douglas County.

We looked toward the mountains to the west.  Colorado's skies are filled with smoke from California's wildfires.  If you look closely, you can see an outline of the higher areas.

Looking east and north, we saw metro Denver.  Houses as far as our eyes could see.  That is what makes the park and it's trails so attractive.  There is actually open space.

Looking down to the base of the bluffs, the houses are more spread out.  At least in this direction.

But this direction, it is more densely developed.

There were even people on horseback on the trail.

Our walk was certainly more interesting than walking on the sidewalks near our apartment.  We will go there again.
