Baby, it's cold outside!

Here is the on-line lead article for the Arizona Republic today:

Phoenix-area residents wake up to freezing cold

The last day of the year broke cold across the Valley and the state.

As the sun began to rise, the scene was almost eerie in some neighborhoods with frosted roofs and front-yard plants covered with sheets and blankets.

The official low temperature Friday morning - the one taken at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport - was a brisk 32 degrees.

The low this morning here at Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, was 29 on our thermometer. That isn't what we expect when we come to the desert for the winter. But today it is cold, but much more comfortable than yesterday. We had a brisk wind all day Thursday, so it was miserable.

Wednesday we moved from Mesa to the Ruins, where we are volunteering from now through the end of March. It is our third time volunteering in interpretation here.

2010 has been a great year for us and we are looking forward to 2011. We want to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
