Everybody needs a vacation once in a while. So we took two short ones in recent weeks. To people who aren’t full-time RVers, that may seem strange. Aren’t we on vacation all the time? Well no, we aren’t. We are living in our RV, moving from place to place. But we have all the same tasks of daily living as everyone else. We have to grocery shop. Meals have to be cooked and the dishes washed. The house has to be cleaned. The bills have to be paid. We file our income tax returns. We have to keep files of bills and financial accounts. We see doctors and dentists and get the annual blood tests and mammograms.
When we are in the trailer, there is always something that must be done or could be done, just like when we lived in a sticks and bricks home. So it is good to get out of the RV once in a while. In a motel, there isn’t work to be done. We may or may not have internet access in our room. There are new places to go. Meals are usually eaten in restaurants. There is a new bed and everything is in a new location.
The change of pace is good. It provides a challenge and is also a way to relax. We still prefer our own bed and the food I prepare. But going on vacation is good for us--and fun.
I agree with you! everyone thinks that just because we spend 4-6 months in our RV we are on vacation the entire time. Our home is able to move where as theirs stays put!
